Chelsea winger Kenedy has been sent home from the Blues' pre-season tour of Asia after he posted offensive comments on social media.

The club confirmed the reports in a bilingual statement on Tuesday: "Chelsea FC can confirm that Kenedy has returned to the UK and will play no further part in the club's pre-season tour of Asia.'

According to John Percy in the Telegraph, Chelsea issued an apology after Kenedy, 21, made "inappropriate" comments about China on his Instagram account, and he has now been sanctioned by having to return to the UK with tour matches still remaining.

Simon Johnson in the Evening Standard reported the Brazilian's Chelsea future is now "uncertain" following the incident.

Goal's Robin Bairner explained that Chinese fans booed Kenedy before Chelsea's 3-0 win over Arsenal in Beijing on Saturday.

Two Instagram posts had drawn the ire of the Chinese. "One was captioned 'F--king China,' while another of a sleeping security guard was tagged: 'Wake up China. You idiot,'" per Bairner.

The posts were soon deleted and Kenedy issued his own apology:

But he has paid the price for his actions and could yet face further consequences when it comes to game time next season.

Kenedy joined Chelsea from Fluminense in 2015. He made 14 Premier League appearances in his debut season with the club but only one from the bench under manager Antonio Conte last term after a failed loan spell at Watford

He has not done his chances of getting more action in 2017-18 much good in pre-season, with Conte likely to be unimpressed with his behaviour.
