DRINK IT IN: Leicester star Danny Drinkwater has handed in a transfer request at Leicester City to try and force through a move to Chelsea

DANNY DRINKWATER has reportedly handed in a transfer request to Leicester to try and force through a move to Chelsea.

The England international has been linked with the Blues as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of deadline day tomorrow.

Leicester have so far held out against selling their midfielder, 27, as they seek £40million.
But Sky Sports are reporting that Drinkwater has handed in a transfer request to try and leave.

Chelsea are the frontrunners to sign the former Manchester United star but the Foxes had the upper hand with his contract not having a buy-out clause.
But now Antonio Conte could finally get his man as a replacement for Nemanja Matic who left to join Manchester United.

And that means the Blues have £40m in funds to splash out on the Premier League winner.
Chelsea’s latest offer fell short of the initial asking price but was seen as a compromise offer to test the Foxes resolve.

Leicester will crack eventually if the money gets to the right level as they will ultimately not stand in Drinkwater’s way to play for one of the big clubs if the deal is right.

Drinkwater’s move will come as good news for Chelsea who look to have been snubbed by Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

It looked like a deal had been done for the wantaway midfielder but it now looks like he wants to move to Liverpool.
