Van der Sar backs Buffon in Champions League















Former Manchester United and Netherlands goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar wishes Juventus and Italy icon Gianluigi Buffon "all the best" in their upcoming Champions League final against Real Madrid, describing the stopper as "world class".

The Italian side will be skippered in Cardiff on Saturday by 39-year-old Gianluigi Buffon, who has never won the Champions League.

"It would mean a lot for me," said the veteran, who has won 168 caps for Italy.

"It would be the greatest joy of my career, together with the World Cup, because it would almost be a reward - the end of a very difficult road paved by bravery, stubbornness and hard work."

Juventus defeated Monaco 4-1 on aggregate to reach their second final in three seasons.

Real Madrid knocked out city rivals Atletico with a 4-2 aggregate win and are looking to defend the title they won last year.

Liverpool signs Naby Keita for a club-record fee £48m

Liverpool have confirmed the agreement of a club-record deal to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita next summer. The Reds will pay the £48m release clause that will allow Keita to join the club, as well as an undisclosed premium. Keita completed a medical on Monday and will officially join Liverpool on July 1 next year. The fee will also surpass the £39.5m paid to Roma for Mohamed Salah this summer.
