Aston Villa put sales of John Terry replica shirts on hold as club shop runs out of letter R
Ex-Chelsea captain so popular among Villa fans the Championship club cannot keep up with demand for his name on new shirt
The arrival of former England and Chelsea captain Terry has sparked a surge in demand from Villa fans.

So many supporters want to get a John Terry replica shirt the club have run out of the letter R
Almost 80 per cent of sales have included Terry’s surname.
And this week, some supporters have found the letter ‘R’ is no longer available.
Villa have said they will be fully restocked by the end of the week  and fans will be able to get the normal printing service.

Some fans lost patience and tweeted owner Tony Xia with their complaints.
He responded to one supporter with the following tweet: “I will pass your ‘warning’ to the dept. managers as I could be ‘dangerous’ #xiaout if they can’t sort this problem out @AVFCSupport ”

It is thought the club shop was not prepared for such a high amount of sales following Terry’s signing.
The club have now had to order more letters ahead of the start of the season in five days’ time.

Last Saturday, the club shop recorded its biggest day of trading for more than five years.
A similar problem happened at Manchester United when Angel Di Maria was signed in 2014 with supporters wanting his surname on their shirt.

Villa boss Steve Bruce has opted to bring in four experienced players over the close season
Terry is part of a major overhaul of the squad Steve Bruce has undertaken at Villa Park over the course of the summer.
Bruce has opted to bring in a huge amount of experience in order to turn the club into genuine promotion contenders in the Championship this season.

On top of signing 36-year-old Terry, Bruce has also decided to complete a free transfer deal to snap up former Blackburn defender Chris Samba, 33.
Glenn Whelan has been brought in from Stoke to bring experience to the Villa midfield
Veteran Stoke midfielder Glenn Whelan has been brought in to add some steel and nous in the centre of the pitch, while Ahmed Elmohamady arrived on a free from Hull.
Villa face Bruce's former club Hull in their first game of the new season on Saturday.
